In the second event of the series, we zone in on the centrality of energy and water resources to sustainable development in Africa and green tech innovation. Improved access to both is playing a vital role in advancing progress in public health, education, food security and poverty eradication.
The so-called water-energy nexus has underpinned development in Africa for decades. Yet over 600 million people on the continent lack access to electricity, and 320 million people don’t have access to clean water. This speaks of the fractured and inconsistent approach primarily motivated by foreign business interest rather than African development. With the help of experts from business, academia and civil society, we explore new approaches that could finally shift the balance.
