Innovation in agricultural productivity is crucial not only to improve the livelihoods of people fully or partially engaged in agriculture, but also to accelerate growth in off-farm segments of the agri-food system. In this second event of the series, we’ll be focusing on the entire value chain, from land tenure, farming technology, markets and pricing that can help drive agriculture transformation underpinned by sustainable intensification and diversification.
Key discussion points:
- Policy reform to support off-farm innovation and enterprise, from seeds and fertilisers to transport and storage
- Business model innovation; how they work and what they look like
- Education and training for youth engagement and job creation along the agri-food value chain
- Off-farm tech innovation along the value chain
This is Event 2 in ‘The Future of Agriculture in Africa’ campaign, a series of three events exploring the challenges and opportunities defining agriculture and agribusiness in Africa today, as well as those that will come to shape it in the future.
We’ll be tackling a range of issues including disruptive on and off-farm technologies, multi-disciplinary collaboration, job creation with off-farm tech innovation and opportunities in agricultural financing.
In person and live-streamed to out global online community, join us as we spotlight the latest scientific, technological and commercial innovation happening in and for Africa, and the people and organisations making it happen.
With insights canvassed from across Africa and around the world, we will identify a number of key recommendations that will be published after each event.
