It is through these innovative approaches where a vast and disruptive means of approaching market and contracting failures occurs towards tangible solutions. However, despite this, a key challenge commonly faced by African entrepreneurs is raising capital. The capital markets in the region are not sufficiently developed to support raising finance to start and grow these kinds of businesses, despite their net positive impact within their respective communities, leading to the ‘failure’ of noble initiatives before their time.
That mentioned, there are Africans in social enterprise who have managed to raise capital and successfully grow their enterprises. In this event, we will be hearing from local entrepreneurs on how they founded their organizations, how they raised and continue to raise finance, and how they continue to build their businesses, especially with the economic downturn brought on by Covid-19.
