SDGs in Primary Education
Teach SDGs in primary & secondary schools to drive awareness and ownership, young.
This project was an output of the Royal Academy of Engineering & Bobab Unconference (3rd March 2020) - Challenge 2 This project aims to accelerate awareness among all ecosystesm on the agenda of the SDGs. We believe that by teaching the SDGs at lower tiers of the education system (primary and secondary) and integrating them into the curriculums, we can drive the sense of ownership, and eventually implementation of the SDGs as these students age out into higher education and eventually the workforce. Key Partnerships required: - Ministry of Education - Academic institutions -NGOs - Private education companies - Financial institutions This project would involve the development of the materials, ensuring they were open source availability across borders. In order to realise this project we need to take the following steps: 1. Secure funding (grants, research funds, UNESCO etc.) 2. Develop a curriculum team comprised of experts across academic instituions, government, representative UNDP etc. 3. Develop the curriculum within the cultural framework & context 4. Train teachers on implementation of new curriculum via teacher training programmes and continuous professional training 5. Government and academia collaboration to roll out the programme at scale (government will legislate and fund with academia developing the curriculum and researching optimisations)
